In 2017, the Atlas Copco Group announced the spin-off of its mining and rock excavation technology business to establish an independent company - Epiroc.

Epiroc retained the entire organizational structure, personnel, trademark product lines, and sales network of the original Atlas Copco mining and rock excavation technology. At the same time, the hydraulic breaker products from the original construction technology department were also incorporated into Epiroc. Epiroc is not just the name of the company, but a new brand in the mining and rock excavation industry that replaces Atlas Copco.

The original Atlas Copco company was founded in 1873, and its solid position in the mining machinery market has been inherited by Epiroc, making Epiroc a new company with nearly 150 years of history and a solid foundation.
