Affected by the global economic recovery and the rise in prices of bulk mineral products, the profits of domestic listed non-ferrous metal mining companies surged in the first quarter of this year!
As of now, most non-ferrous metal mining companies have announced their latest performance or performance forecasts for the first quarter of 2021. Overall, the non-ferrous industry is quite "booming", and these mining companies have truly enjoyed a "warm spring"!
The mining industry has selected 20 companies based on market capitalization (over 10 billion). Looking at their performance reports, these 20 non-ferrous metal mining companies had a total net profit exceeding 10 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2021, which is four times the 2.4 billion yuan from the same period last year; 17 companies had a net profit exceeding 100 million yuan this quarter, compared to only 7 last year.
First quarter of this year18 mining companies saw their net profits more than double year-on-year, with 4 companies experiencing a net profit growth of over 10 times, including: Ganfeng Lithium (about 60 times), China Aluminum (about 30 times), Shenghe Resources (about 28 times), and Shenhuo Co., Ltd. (about 15 times).

In the first quarter, Zijin Mining was the most profitable mining company in the industry, with a single-quarter net profit of 2.511 billion yuan, doubling compared to last year. Additionally, Zijin Mining's three world-class mines, the Serbia Peji Copper Gold Mine, the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Mine, and the Julong Copper Mine, will successively start production this year, making the future of Zijin Mining even more promising. Besides Zijin Mining, other mining companies with a net profit exceeding 500 million yuan in the first quarter include: China Aluminum, Jiangxi Copper, Yun Aluminum, Huayou Cobalt, and Shenhuo Co., Ltd.
From the perspective of mineral types, aluminum companies performed the best in the first quarter, with China Aluminum's net profit at 967 million yuan,Yun Aluminumnet profit of 680 million yuan, Shenhuo Co., Ltd. net profit of 586 million yuan. Among the six most profitable non-ferrous metal mining companies in the first quarter, aluminum companies accounted for half. In contrast, gold mining companies performed relatively average in the first quarter, with Hengbang Co., Ltd. and Hunan Gold both having a net profit of less than 150 million yuan in a single quarter; additionally, Shandong Gold's production capacity was significantly affected due to safety inspections, resulting in a year-on-year decline of about 40% in gold production, with a negative net profit.
