The meaning of the model names of Atlas Copco's hydraulic rock drills.

The meaning of Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill model

The Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill model, such as COP 1838ME, consists of 4 parts (letters or numbers), see Table 3. The meanings of the 4 parts of the model are shown in Table 4.

The numbers in the Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill model have 4 digits, with the first 2 digits indicating the impact power of the drill, and the last 2 digits indicating the specification of the drill rod used. For example, COP3038 indicates that the impact power of the drill is 30kW, and the thread diameter of the drill rod used is 38 mm. Of course, the impact power indicated by the numbers is only a rough range, or a power level. For instance, the actual impact power of the COP1238 series is 12~18 kW, and the COP1838 series has an actual impact power of 18~22 kW. The thread specifications of the drill rod indicated by the numbers represent the most suitable specifications, meaning that it is not limited to only one specification of drill rod, but rather a range. To know the actual impact power and drill rod specifications, one must refer to the product manual.

The numbers in the hydraulic rock drill model are often followed by uppercase letters, such as CR, EX, HUX, HE, HF, LP, LE, ME, MUX, ME-CR, etc. These letters are the model codes of the hydraulic rock drill. Models without these codes are the basic models, while those with these codes are variants of the basic model. Variants refer to changes in performance parameters (such as impact energy and impact frequency) or structure compared to the basic model. The meanings of the variant codes are shown in Table 4.

As a mature and world-renowned company, the model formulation method of Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drills is relatively scientific and distinct from other companies, possessing uniqueness. The letters and numbers that make up the model have clear meanings, containing information from the manufacturer, expressing the main performance parameters and interface parameters of the rock drill, as well as the main structural features. The meanings of Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill models are quite direct, without ambiguity, allowing industry professionals to understand at a glance. It is a good model formulation method that is worth learning from and emulating.

However, there are some Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill models whose expressed main performance parameters differ significantly from the actual performance parameters..For example,, the maximum pressure of the hydraulic rock drill isCOP1440, the rated impact power at maximum pressure is17.5MPa21 kW,which has deviated far fromthe original specifications. There have been similar parameter deviations in previous hydraulic rock drills.14kWSuch models have long been withdrawn from the market, and they are no longer found in the current series of Atlas Copco hydraulic rock drill models.COP1338液压凿岩机,也有同样的参数偏离情况。这2种型号早已经退出了市场,在目前的阿特拉斯.科普柯公司液压凿岩机的型号系列中不见它们的踪影。
