Drilling tools for rock excavation



The methods of rock drilling and excavation include the rock drilling and blasting method and the mechanical rock breaking method. In China, the construction mainly relies on the rock drilling and blasting method, with operational areas concentrated in tunnels and culverts in infrastructure engineering and shaft engineering in underground mining production.

The development direction of tunnel and shaft rock drilling and excavation is to adopt hydraulic rock drilling rigs for mechanized excavation, full-face tunneling machines, and shaft drilling machines for mechanized construction operations. China places great importance on the research of hydraulic rock drilling rigs, especially full hydraulic rock drilling rigs.Since the 1980s, nearly 10 models of hydraulic rock drilling rig prototypes have been developed and imitated, mainly focusing on full hydraulic rock drilling rigs. However, for various reasons, these prototypes have not been successfully used in actual production, and the air-leg lightweight rock drill remains the main construction machinery in rock drilling and excavation projects.

 

From20the century90mid-1980s, domestic rock drilling machinery manufacturing enterprises and research institutions began to redevelop tunnel rock drilling rigs based on summarizing experiences, while foreign rock drilling machinery manufacturing enterprises in China also began to mass-produce full hydraulic rock drilling rigs.21By the early 21st century, the number of imported and domestically produced full hydraulic rock drilling rigs used by large domestic construction enterprises and mines continued to increase, with some becoming the main equipment in tunnel and shaft construction. The development history of rock drilling equipment in industrially developed countries shows that the application of full hydraulic rock drilling rigs reflects the modernization level of construction and should have considerable development space in future tunnel and shaft construction operations in China, along with supporting rock drilling tool products.
