On June 30, the establishment ceremony of the Natural Culture Research Institute of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) was held at the International Conference Center.

The ceremony was hosted by Lin Shanyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Vice President Liu Daming read the establishment document of the Natural Culture Research Institute. The establishment of the Natural Culture Research Institute is an important decision made by the school after deeply implementing the important thought of "coordinating and promoting the overall layout of the 'five-in-one' strategy" and fulfilling the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and fostering people, based on reality and looking to the future, considering the historical context of the school's long-term strategic development; it is a major strategic measure for the school to adapt to new situations and changes, actively participate in national ecological civilization construction, and lead high-quality, connotative development; it is also a strategic choice to explore new ideas and models for cultural education, continuously improve the modern education governance system, and promote cultural confidence and confidence in the path.
The Natural Culture Research Institute is a secondary institution of the school, belonging to the "research unit", integrating teaching, research, and management. It is planned and integrated based on the original Geoscience Development Research Center, with the Geological Relics Research Center, Higher Education Research Institute, and the Literature Teaching and Research Office of the School of Economics and Management fully incorporated. After the establishment of the institute, it will rely on disciplinary advantages, guided by "ecological civilization", characterized by "natural culture", and centered on "comprehensive development", to carry out natural culture research, conduct discipline, major, and curriculum construction, and cultivate high-quality results in natural culture research.
Ma Junjie emphasized at the meeting that the establishment of the Natural Culture Research Institute is an important measure for the school to deeply study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and fulfill the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and fostering people in higher education. It is necessary to enhance the school's discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, and international exchange levels, and it is of great significance for promoting the school's "Double First-Class" construction and planning for long-term development.
