The actual application of hydraulic rock drilling rigs in mines.

Shougang Tonggang Group Banshi Mining Company is located ten kilometers northwest of Baishan City, Jilin Province. The main types of ore are quartz magnetite and amphibole quartz magnetite, with an annual production of 2.07 million tons of iron ore. The ore is dense and hard, with a Mohs hardness coefficient of f=10 to 14, and an average weight of 3.5t/m³.Hornblende granite, amphibole schist, and metamorphic granule rock: The Mohs hardness coefficient is f=8 to 10, and the average weight is 2.5t/m³. The surrounding rock joints are well developed, belonging to moderately stable surrounding rock. The current mining method used is the sublevel caving mining method, with a middle section height of 60m, a sublevel height of 15m, and a roadway spacing of 15m. The ore body has an inclination of 75° to 85°, and the large-scale blasting uses upward vertical fan-shaped deep hole blasting. Due to the continuous increase in annual production, the upgrading of mining equipment has become the main trend in the development of the mine.

1. Adaptability of drilling equipment and optimization of related parameters

1.1 Adaptability of drilling equipment

With the continuous increase in annual production of the mine, the original drilling and ore extraction equipment is no longer suitable for the new situation. Therefore, after research, the company decided to upgrade the original drilling and mining equipment. After field investigations of similar mines and considering the actual situation of this mine, it was decided to replace the original YGZ-90 disc-type drill with the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig.Drilling rigand match it with a 2m³ electric shovel for ore extraction. After six months of experiments and practical use, the use of the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig meets the actual requirements of the mine.

1.2 Optimization of related mining parameters

Due to the upgrading of drilling and ore extraction equipment, the original parameters such as caving step distance, minimum resistance line, and hole bottom distanceand other miningparameters are no longer suitable for the new drilling equipment, so some optimizations are made based on the original parameters.
Due to the relatively large size of the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig, it is required thatthe width and height of the tunnel cross-section need to be appropriately increased, changing the tunnel from the original 3m (width) x 3m (height) to 4.2m (width) x 3.8m (height). When using the original YGZ-90 disc-type drill, its hole diameter was Φ=65mm, and the related parameters for drilling and blasting were: the angle of the borehole fan surface was 90°, the angle of the side holes of the fan-shaped borehole was 50°, the caving step distance was 1.5m, the minimum resistance line (W) was 1.5m, and the hole bottom distance (a) was 2m, with a hole proximity coefficient (M) of 1.3.After adopting the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig, its hole diameter is Φ=76mm, which is an increase of 11mm from the original, thus requiring optimization of the original parameters such as caving step distance, minimum resistance line (W), and hole bottom distance (a) to meet the new drilling, blasting, and ore extraction requirements. The company's engineering technicians compared and optimized the actual site conditions with the theoretical efficiency of the hydraulic drilling rig. Based on the empirical formula M=a/W, while ensuring that the hole proximity coefficient (M) remains unchanged, they appropriately adjusted the hole bottom distance (a) and minimum resistance line (W), and through on-site experiments and referencing the actual experience of similar mines using drilling rigs, decided to change the caving step distance to 1.8m, the minimum resistance line (W) to 1.8m, and the hole bottom distance (a) to 2.4m, while keeping other parameters unchanged. At the same time, due to the strong drilling capability of the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig, the mining layer height was increased from the original 10m to 15m, and the roadway spacing was increased from the original 12.5m to 15m, widening the sublevel height and roadway spacing, simplifying the mining area structure.2. Application effects of the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig

—— After adopting the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig, the drilling efficiency per shift increased from the original 40m/shift to 70m/shift; the blasting quantity per meter for deep holes increased from the original 6t/m to 11t/m; the explosive consumption per ton for deep hole blasting

decreased from the original 0.5kg/t to 0.43kg/t; the annual production increased from the original 1.25 million tons to 2.07 million tons, significantly improving mining efficiency.—— After adopting the hydraulic drilling rig, in order to adapt to the new production environment, both the mining process parameters and blasting process parameters were optimized, ensuring that the drilling rig achieves high shift efficiency in actual work, while simplifying the mining area structure, reducing mining costs, and thus lowering the cost of mining operations.—— The on-site working environment of the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig is good, the working conditions of the operators have significantly improved, and partial automation has been achieved, reducing the labor intensity of the operators. Due to the improvement of on-site working conditions, the incidence of occupational diseases has decreased, ensuring the physical and mental health of the operators.

3. Conclusion

The adoption of the drilling rig has effectively enhanced mining capacity, improved the economic benefits of the mine, and changed the production landscape of the mine.

In the process of studying the Simba H1254 hydraulic drilling rig and the mining and blasting process parameters, some beneficial insights were also gained.
