"Underground Space and Geological Resources" Themed Science Popularization Activity Site

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the China Geological Survey Nanjing Geological Survey Center, in conjunction with the Zhejiang Province First Geological Brigade and Aitian Nature Classroom, held the "Underground Space and Geological Resources" themed science popularization activity at the Geological Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park in Binjiang District, Hangzhou.

Xing Huaixue, a senior engineer from the Nanjing Geological Survey Center, discussed the history of underground space development, its uses, the current state of development at home and abroad, as well as methods for spatial investigation, detection, and evaluation; Deputy Manager Lu Jian of the Zhejiang Province First Geological Brigade shared interesting stories from geological fieldwork based on his own experiences; Iris, a course development mentor from Aitian Nature Classroom, introduced the characteristics of different types of gemstones and the naming of common gemstones. The participating students also conducted a field investigation at Huanglong Cave in Xihu District, searching for traces of gemstones in rock strata under the guidance of experts.

This science popularization activity combined knowledge and fun, receiving enthusiastic responses from students and parents, enhancing everyone's awareness of loving and protecting nature.Photo by Cai Xiaohu
