The unveiling ceremony of the National Demonstration Base for Mining Ecological Restoration Research Cooperation at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and the Demonstration Project of the Green Mining Environmental Protection Professional Committee of the International Ecological Economy Association was recently held, with the project located at Haofei Mining Co., Ltd. in Yidu, Hubei. This is the first mining enterprise in China's sand and gravel aggregate industry to be awarded the National Demonstration Base for Mining Ecological Restoration Research Cooperation by China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing).

In order to promote ecological civilization construction, facilitate the upgrading of mining enterprises, better provide local governments with green development research cooperation models, and accelerate the construction of national-level green mining demonstrations, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and the International Ecological Economy Association Green Mining Environmental Protection Professional Committee, after multiple research and demonstrations, decided to establish the National Demonstration Base for Mining Ecological Restoration Research Cooperation and the Green Mining Environmental Protection Professional Committee Demonstration Project at Haofei Mining Co., Ltd. This move will provide Haofei Mining Co., Ltd. with stronger technical support and overall drive and enhance the local green mining construction level.

Yidu City is located in the transitional zone between the western Hubei mountains and the Jianghan Plain, with abundant mineral resources such as cement limestone, coal, calcite, barite, and building materials. In recent years, the city has made significant changes to its economic growth model, focusing on green mining construction, guiding industries such as building materials and chemicals towards a path of green and high-quality development, achieving remarkable results. Haofei Mining Co., Ltd. in Yidu is a typical example of promoting green mining construction. The company has successively carried out technical cooperation with many domestic professional institutions, and after more than a year of transformation and construction, its mine has met the green mining standards, passed the provincial-level green mining review in Hubei, and has been recommended as a provincial-level candidate for national-level green mining.

"The development of mining must adhere to the path of green and efficient development; this is a new idea and a new trend," said Peng Suping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and the director of the Green Mining Environmental Protection Professional Committee. He stated that the country provides multiple supports for green mining in terms of policies and regulations. In the future, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and the Green Mining Environmental Protection Professional Committee will work closely with the Yidu municipal government and Haofei Mining to fully support, strictly supervise the process, and implement various results.

According to Li Junyang, the full-time vice president and secretary-general of the International Ecological Economy Association, the Yidu Haofei Green Mining Demonstration Project is a project supported by the collaboration of four parties: the ecological association, research institutions, local governments, and enterprises. The association has introduced experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and China National Building Material Group for project guidance, and has also received support from the local government and investments of over 100 million yuan from enterprises. He stated that mining enterprises with a strategic positioning of green development need to maintain a balance between long-term development and short-term interests, focusing on the coordinated high-quality development of economic benefits and the environment. The association will continue to support the Yidu Haofei Green Mining Demonstration Project to promote it nationwide and to showcase the results of traditional mining green upgrades within the industry.

Yang Xiaojun, the deputy mayor of Yidu City, stated that the creation of green mines is a long-term and arduous task and an inevitable choice for achieving scientific development and social harmony. This unveiling ceremony marks an important starting point on the milestone of Yidu City's promotion of green mining construction. Yidu City will further establish the concept of ecological mining and promote green mining construction, hoping that Haofei Mining will seize the opportunity, ride the momentum, and develop into a model for the transformation of high-tech achievements and high-level green creation enterprises.

Zhang Hongqiang, the representative of the green mining owner, stated that Haofei Mining's recognition and support from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and the International Ecological Economy Association, becoming a national-level research cooperation base, will strongly promote the company's green and high-quality development. We are restructuring a problematic mine and transforming it into a green mine, which also provides ideas and successful cases for how to promote the transformation and upgrading of old mines into green development mines under the high requirements of the ecological environment in the new era.

The awarding of the National Demonstration Base for Mining Ecological Restoration Research Cooperation at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and the International Ecological Economy Association Green Mining Demonstration Project is the first beneficial attempt in China to combine theory and practice in guiding the green development of mining through the "National Green Mining Non-Metallic Sand and Gravel Mining Industry Demonstration Standard Construction Guide." It is also another successful case of local governments, research institutions, and enterprises working together, which will play a significant role in integrating relevant resources into the green mining field, leveraging the role of professional social organizations, and constructing a demonstration system to effectively support the development of green mining in China.

Leaders from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), the International Ecological Economy Association (IEEPA), the Yichang Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, and the Yidu Municipal Government, as well as heads of relevant municipal departments, representatives from China National Building Material Group, and Haofei Mining, among nearly a hundred people, attended the ceremony.
