Peru's Minister of Mines: Clearing obstacles for Chinese-funded enterprises to operate and develop in Peru.


On September 24, the website of the Chinese Embassy in Peru reported that on September 22, Ambassador Liang Yu met with Peruvian Minister of Energy and Mines Merino at the official residence. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy and mining and other topics of mutual concern, with Commercial Counselor Zhao Chunjiang and others present.

Ambassador Liang stated that China and Peru are comprehensive strategic partners, and in recent years, practical cooperation in trade and economy between the two countries has developed rapidly. Cooperation in energy and mining is a key area of practical cooperation between China and Peru, which is of great significance for deepening bilateral relations and promoting Peru's economic and social development. The Chinese side appreciates the efforts made by the Ministry of Energy and Mines over the years to ensure the smooth development of China-Peru energy and mining cooperation and is willing to continue close communication with the Ministry, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, and continuously deepen bilateral energy and mining cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

Minister Merino stated that China is an important source of investment in Peru's energy and mining sector, and there is great potential for cooperation between the two countries. The Peruvian side highly values the positive role of Chinese-funded energy and mining projects in promoting Peru's economic and social development. The Ministry of Energy and Mines will continue to support bilateral cooperation, clear obstacles for enterprises operating in Peru, and promote China-Peru energy and mining cooperation to a new level.
