The National Day of the People's Republic of China is also known as "October 1st", "National Day", "National Holiday", "China's National Day", and "National Day Golden Week". The Central People's Government announced that starting from 1950, October 1st of each year, the day the People's Republic of China was proclaimed established, is designated as National Day.

The National Day of the People's Republic of China is a symbol of the nation, emerging alongside the establishment of the new China, and has become particularly important. It serves as a mark of an independent country, reflecting our national structure and political system. National Day is a new, nationwide form of celebration that embodies the cohesion of our country and nation. At the same time, the large-scale celebratory activities on National Day are a concrete manifestation of the government's mobilization and appeal. The three basic characteristics of the National Day celebration are to demonstrate national strength, enhance national confidence, and reflect cohesion.
