On December 30, the book launch of "70 Years of Natural Resources Rule of Law Innovation in New China" and the establishment conference of the Natural Resources Rule of Law Research Center, hosted by the Natural Resources Strategic Development Research Institute of China University of Geosciences (Beijing), was held in Beijing. The conference focused on the theme of "Focusing on Ecological Civilization, Serving Green Development, Promoting Rule of Law Innovation," addressing hot and difficult issues in the modernization of governance systems and capabilities in the field of natural resources.

According to reports, the Natural Resources Rule of Law Research Center of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) will coordinate with the Strategic Institute and the School of Economics and Management, adopting a model of interdisciplinary collaborative innovation. Through an integrated mechanism of government, industry, academia, and research, it will recruit top talents in the field of natural resources rule of law from home and abroad, focusing on key and difficult issues in the construction of natural resources rule of law, providing theoretical and think tank support for national natural resources legislation and policies, and offering consulting services for enterprise development.

Liu Daming, Vice President of China University of Geosciences (Beijing), pointed out that the Natural Resources Strategic Development Research Institute (referred to as the Strategic Institute) is the first "Chinese-style new type of university think tank" among industry universities, serving as a high-end think tank to promote the modernization of national governance capabilities and support national economic and social development. The Strategic Institute will further elevate the "Beidi characteristics" to "Beidi wisdom," focusing on hot and difficult issues in promoting technological innovation in natural resources and assisting in ecological civilization construction, providing "Beidi solutions."

In the 70 years since the founding of New China, the construction of natural resources rule of law in our country has embarked on a governance path with Chinese characteristics, achieving great accomplishments. However, there are still prominent issues in the construction of natural resources rule of law, such as low legislative quality, uncoordinated legislative systems, frequent conflicts and disputes in the field of natural resources, and sustained high levels of administrative reconsideration and litigation. On that day, the book "70 Years of Natural Resources Rule of Law Innovation in New China," edited by Professor Li Xiandong and Associate Professor Meng Lei, was officially released.

The new book addresses the above issues, conducting specialized research based on systematic research thinking, providing a comprehensive and systematic review and summary of the theory and practice of natural resources rule of law construction, and analyzing and answering the problems existing in the construction of natural resources rule of law. At the same time, based on a comprehensive summary and systematic sorting of the theoretical development and legislative experience in the field of natural law since the founding of New China, and in conjunction with the reform deployment of ecological civilization construction, it proposes suggestions for formulating a basic law for natural resources and improving individual laws on natural resources from the perspective of the natural legal norms system.

In addition, participants focused on exchanging and discussing the goals, tasks, and challenges of national natural resources legislation and policies during the "14th Five-Year Plan."
